WANG Zhong-shan<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n WANG Zhong-shan is of Mongolian descent, but was born in Henan province. He started to study the zheng<\/em> in his childhood, and has received the guidance of a dozen of zheng<\/em> players. He is deeply rooted in the Henan School of zheng<\/em> playing. In 1981, he entered Nanyang Art School, studying under the zheng<\/em> player ZHAO Man-qin. In 1986 he played the premieres of Defeating the Tiger on the Mountain<\/em> and Red Sun over Jinggang Mountain <\/em>with newly invented difficult techniques, and attracted the attention of many. Afterwards, he entered the China Conservatory, studying under the zheng<\/em> player LI Wan-fen. In 1989 he was awarded in the \u201cART\u201d Cup Instrumental Competition. In 1995 he won the first prize in the zheng<\/em> section of an international Chinese instrumental competition. WANG Zhong-shan is now a zheng<\/em> teacher of the China Conservatory.
