GAO Zi-cheng<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n GAO Zi-cheng was born 0n December 1,1918 in Yuncheng, Shandong province and passed away of illness on August 21,2010 in Xi\u2019an. His first name was Ming-xun and he started to learn the zheng<\/em> and yangqin<\/em> from his grandfather GAO Guang-si and his uncle GAO Ji-xian since his childhood. Later, he was introduced by his classmate GAO Ke-qi to learn the zheng<\/em> under ZHANG Wei-zhao who lived twenty five miles away from his home. In 1931, he further studied the zheng<\/em> and yangqin<\/em> under ZHANG Wei-tai, HUANG Huai-de, ZHANG Nian-sheng and LI Lian-jun. In 1935, he learned under WANG Dian-yu and joined Wang\u2019s Ensemble of Dong Lu. In 1955, he was appointed to the Main Politic Song and Dance Troup in Beijing. In 1957, he was transferred to teach in Xi\u2019an Conservatory. In1962, when the zheng<\/em> artist WANG Sheng-wu of the Henan school joined Xi\u2019an Conservatory, both of Gao and Wang found that the zheng<\/em> melody and style the Shangdong school and the Henan school were really close. They then used half year\u2019s time to arrange ten duet pieces of them and named these Da Ban Tao Qu of Lu and Yu<\/em> and reedited and completed the draft in 1980.
