She started receiving musical training at six, enlightened by her father, the well-known conductor, composer and liuqin<\/em> master WANG Hui-ran. She began to perform on stage at seven. Admitted to Jinan Progress Orchestra at ten, she soon impressed the Beijing music circle. She gave performance in northern Europe at twelve and was appraised as prodigy. At fourteen, she won the first prize in the National Children Chinese Music Contest. She received the Golden Cup Award in the 1st<\/sup> National Arts Festival at eighteen. In 1991, she entered the Song and Dance Troupe of the General Political Department and was granted \u201cRed Star Award\u201d in two consecutive years. In 1993, she was invited to teach liuqin<\/em> in the Central Conservatory. She has a strong foundation of basic playing skills and has developed her own style. In June 1993, she was invited to play the liuqin<\/em> concerto Melody on a Moonlit River<\/em>, at the 20th<\/sup> Century Classic Chinese Music Special Concert in Beijing.
