香港老年中樂團 Hong Kong Senior Chinese Orchestra
香港老年中樂團，成立於2015年，是唯一敢用「老年」為名號之香港業餘中樂團。以老年為主打，蓋因本中樂團大部份團員，在1970年始，學生時代，已經活躍香港各中樂團體。時間歷程，大家結婚、移民、求學、工作，各奔前程。幾十年之後，這一批熟悉中國音樂演奏技巧的人士，陸續退休，過著悠閑的生活。在楊寶信倡議下，關秉文拍手讃成，一言定下，再次聚一堂，繼續為中樂界發光發熱。
意志不會老，技術能量不遜年青，唯歲月有痕跡！香港有青年中樂團，有學生中樂團，我們意志不會老，遂以「香港老年中樂團」為號，敢於命名，敢於擔當！
本團在香港註冊，為非牟利的民間業餘音樂團體，成員組成是一群退休人士，熱愛優秀中華文化，傳播民族音樂藝術，豐富香港社區文化生活，促進音樂文化交流為宗旨，發揚團體精神，致力奉獻優秀的演奏藝術，團結熱心，服務廣大民眾。
幾年來，樂團除每年主辦、協辦多場音樂演出活動之外，更積極參與各界友好團體之邀請，組織演出。
樂團經過八年來的努力和發展，現已成為一支擁各聲部之大樂團架構。更好的現象是「老年中樂團」，亦有年青的中樂才俊加入，壯大樂團，參與活動。
Hong Kong Senior Chinese Orchestra, established in 2015, is the only amateur Chinese orchestra in Hong Kong that dares to use “senior” in its name. The orchestra primarily consists of members who were active in various Chinese music groups in Hong Kong since the 1970s when they were students. Over the years, they got married, emigrated, pursued education, and embarked on careers, each going their separate ways. Decades later, this group of individuals, who are familiar with Chinese music performance techniques, retired one by one and began enjoying a leisurely life. At the initiative of YEUNG Po-shun and with the support of KWAN Ping-man, it was decided to gather once again and continue to contribute to the Chinese music community.
Willpower does not age, and technical prowess is not inferior to the young, only the passage of time leaves its mark! Hong Kong has youth orchestras and student orchestras, but we, with unwavering determination, proudly bear the name “Hong Kong Senior Chinese Orchestra” and take up the challenge!
The orchestra is registered in Hong Kong as a nonprofit amateur music organization. Its members are a group of retirees who have a deep love for excellent Chinese culture, aim to promote traditional music and art, enrich the cultural life of the Hong Kong community, and facilitate cultural exchange through music. They are dedicated to delivering outstanding performance art, fostering unity and enthusiasm, and serving the general public.
Over the years, the orchestra has not only organized and co-organized numerous music performances annually but has also actively participated in invitations from various friendly organizations to perform.
After eight years of effort and development, the orchestra has grown into a large ensemble with various sections. A positive development is that the “Senior Chinese Orchestra” has also attracted young talents in Chinese music, strengthening the orchestra and involving them in activities.
