Chinese philosophy. Also I wish to talk about the point from Qin to Lore. The lore of qin here has a wide meaning as it has a special relationhip with Confucian, Buddhism and Daoism.<\/p> Qin and the Daily Lives of Scholars<\/strong><\/p> Qin became part of the lives of scholars. They used to play qin whenever they could as they thought this can raise their humanistic spirit.<\/p> Qin and Honesty<\/strong><\/p> Qin always implies honesty. Therefore scholars play qin frequently to show their honesty and incorruptible character.<\/p> Qin and Elegant Music<\/strong><\/p> Scholars in older times used to accompany reading elegant poems with music. As they used to play qin, therefore qin is always associated with elegant music.<\/p> Leader in Music and Qin Ethics<\/strong><\/p> Till Han dynasty, there was some changes in the definition of qin. It became somewhat like a leader of all instruments, therefore people called it the leader in music. In that time, music meant sound of ethics. Since qin was leader in music,\u00a0 people always related qin to ethics.<\/p> \u2018Chang\u2019 and \u2018Cao\u2019<\/strong><\/p> Chang and Cao are 2 different types of qin music. They have different purposes also. Chang is aiming at teaching people the right way of being a human. Cao is aimng at keeping oneself in good integrity.<\/p> Qin and Human Life<\/strong><\/p> Qin and life is always linked up together in some way. When one is playing qin, he must have perfect concentration, good breathing matching with the music, in a mood similar to meditation. These are all good factors for a good health. Many famous qin players are living long life may be a good proof.<\/p> Qin is Reflection of Heart<\/strong><\/p> When one is playing qin, the music will reflect his thinking or feeling at that moment. Of course only experts can get such meaning or feeling by just listening to the music played.<\/p> Three Tones of Qin and Its Function of Moving Feelings<\/strong><\/p> There are 3 main types of tones in qin playing that represent heaven, earth and human.<\/p> It was said the sound of qin can move the feeling of people into the qin. So qin and human feelings combined into one unison.\u00a0<\/p> The Highest State of Qin<\/strong><\/p> It is believed that qin can affect one\u2019s feelings and sentiment. The highest state of qin music is to harmonize with heaven and earth so that there is harmony allover in the human world.<\/p> Qin and Daoism<\/strong><\/p> Qin affects one\u2019s heart and pursues harmony inside. The ancestor of Daoism concluded that if people follow the doctrine of playing qin, that is :\u00a0 concentrate, moderate, step by step, then you can understand the real meaning of Daoism.<\/p> Qin and Yoga<\/strong><\/p> The basic theory of qin is really similar to Yoga.
