class=\"has-medium-font-size\">HU Bing-xu (1939 -)<br>HU Bing-xu is a conductor, composer, and oboist. He has served as the resident conductor and artistic director of national-level ensembles such as the Central Orchestra, Shanghai Peking Opera Troupe, Beijing Peking Opera Theater, Central Opera Theater, Oriental Song and Dance Ensemble, and Central Ballet Troupe. He has also been the associate conductor and principal conductor of the National Traditional Orchestra of China, as well as the music director and chief conductor of the Singapore Chinese Orchestra and Guangdong Traditional Orchestra. HU Bing-xu was born in Tianjin in 1939. In 1955, he was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music Youth Class (now known as the Affiliated High School) to study the oboe. In 1958, he directly entered the undergraduate program of the Orchestral Department. In 1959, he was selected to study with Czech experts. In 1963, he graduated with honors and was assigned to work in the symphony orchestra of the Central Orchestra, specializing in oboe performance. During the Cultural Revolution, he participated in the creation and rehearsal of modern Peking operas such as &#8220;Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy&#8221; and &#8220;The Azalea Mountain&#8221;, and conducted the symphony &#8220;Shajiabang&#8221;. Afterwards, he conducted over 80 films, TV dramas, CDs, and DVDs, including &#8220;The Founding Ceremony&#8221;, &#8220;Dream of the Red Chamber&#8221;, &#8220;Farewell My Concubine&#8221;, &#8220;Raise the Red Lantern&#8221;, &#8220;Ode to Qin&#8221;, &#8220;Journey to the West&#8221;, and &#8220;Romance of the Three Kingdoms&#8221;. In 1995, he was awarded the Golden Record Conductor Special Award. From 1997 to 2000, he served as the inaugural music director and chief conductor of the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, leading the orchestra to perform in Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Taiwan, and other places with great success. From 2001 to 2013, he led the Guangdong Traditional Orchestra on tours to world-renowned music halls in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, the Czech Republic, and other European countries, achieving tremendous success.
