class=\"has-medium-font-size\">ZHAO Ji-ping (July 20, 1945\u2013)<br>ZHAO Ji-ping is a composer and music educator. He served as the former president of the Xi&#8217;an Conservatory of Music, honorary chairman of the Chinese Musicians&#8217; Association, and is an alumnus of the Xi&#8217;an Conservatory of Music and the Central Conservatory of Music. He was born on July 20, 1945, in Shulu County, Hebei Province (now Xinji City, Hebei Province), with ancestral roots in Pingliang, Gansu Province. At the age of 15, he was admitted to the composition department of the Xi&#8217;an Conservatory of Music and after graduation, he was assigned to work at the Shaanxi Provincial Opera Research Institute, where he devoted himself to music research. After the end of the Cultural Revolution, he entered the Central Conservatory of Music for further studies. In 1984, he composed the music for the film &#8220;Yellow Earth,&#8221; and in 1987, he gained fame for his music in &#8220;Red Sorghum.&#8221; From 1985, he served as the vice president of the Shaanxi Provincial Opera Research Institute. From 1991, he served as the president of the Shaanxi Provincial Song and Dance Theater. He has also held positions such as vice chairman of the Chinese Musicians&#8217; Association, vice chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, vice chairman of the Shaanxi Musicians&#8217; Association, and president of the Shaanxi Film Music Society. In 2004, he was elected chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles. From 2008 to 2015, he served as the president of the Xi&#8217;an Conservatory of Music. In December 2009, he was elected chairman of the Chinese Musicians&#8217; Association. Over the years, he has created a large number of outstanding musical works, including the First Symphony, Second Symphony \u2013 &#8220;Ode to Peace&#8221;, symphonic poem &#8220;Farewell My Concubine&#8221;, symphonic tone poem &#8220;Sunbird&#8221;, symphonic suite &#8220;Qiao Family Courtyard&#8221;, orchestral work &#8220;Celebration Overture&#8221;, &#8220;In Search of Ancient Roots&#8221; for traditional orchestra, cello concerto &#8220;Dream of Zhuang Zhou&#8221;, suona concerto &#8220;Fantasy Suite on the Silk Road&#8221;, erhu concerto &#8220;Fragrance of the Heart&#8221;, Second Pipa Concerto, First Violin Concerto, dance drama &#8220;Lone Smoke Rising in the Desert&#8221;, &#8220;Flowers&#8221;, Shaanbei Yangge Opera &#8220;Mi Zhi Po Yi Sui De Han&#8221;, symphonic Peking Opera &#8220;Female General of Yang Family&#8221;, chamber music &#8220;Moonlight on the Great Wall&#8221;, songs &#8220;Da Jiangnan&#8221;, &#8220;Broken Bridge Dream&#8221;, &#8220;Heroic Song&#8221;, &#8220;Distant Love&#8221;, &#8220;Guan Ju&#8221;, and more. He has also composed music for films such as &#8220;Yellow Earth&#8221;, &#8220;Red Sorghum&#8221;, &#8220;Ju Dou&#8221;, &#8220;Raise the Red Lantern&#8221;, &#8220;Farewell My Concubine&#8221;, &#8220;The Story of Qiu Ju&#8221;, &#8220;Farewell My Concubine&#8221;, &#8220;Confucius&#8221;, and TV dramas such as &#8220;Water Margin&#8221;, &#8220;The Grand Mansion Gate&#8221;, &#8220;Qiao Family Courtyard&#8221;, and the new version of &#8220;Three Kingdoms&#8221;.
