When he was four years old, his father died, he lived lonely with his mother. At the age of seven, he started to learn wind instruments and became a famous native performer in Yongnian. In 1953, he was selected to participate in the Joint Performance of North China. He felt that the government had paid special attention to them. So after returning to Yongnian, he started to associate all the performers in Yongnian to form an association. At the beginning, there were only nineteen persons to join, but at the end of that year, there were more than fifty members and later on developed to more than two hundred members.
