In 1949, he graduated from the Northwest People\u2019s Military and Politic University. He then took music as career and started to compose, conduct and perform of Chinese wind instruments. In 1987, he was appointed to be the national first class performer, and became the routine committee of the Chengdu Musicians\u2019 Association, the vice president of the Sichuan Chinese National Orchestral Society, chairman of the Sichuan Chinese National Wind Society. He was also appointed as the adjudicator to the Sichuan high-level title and the editing committee of the Sichuan volume on the Collection of the Chinese Music. He has written many articles and books about the performing arts of <em>dizi<\/em>. His <em>dizi<\/em> compositions included<em> I am a Soldier,<\/em> <em>On the Horse Racing<\/em>, <em>Coming of the Cuckoo<\/em>, <em>Ode to the Hometown<\/em>, etc. all together about fifty pieces. He has also composed about eight pieces of different instrumental concertos.
