He was the second son of the famous erhu<\/em> musician JIANG Feng-zhi. In 1951, he joined the Song and Dance Troupe of the Air-force Political Department of the Chinese People\u2019s Liberation Army in Beijing. He was the professional erhu<\/em> performer there till now. In 1963, he was selected to participate in the 4th<\/sup> Shanghai Spring Festival\u2019s national erhu<\/em> competition. He and MIN Hui-fen both won the first prize and also the outstanding new work performance prize. In 1982, he initiated to found the Beijing Erhu Research Association.
