劉文金,作曲家,指揮家,嘗任中央民族樂團團長、中國歌劇舞劇院院長、中國音協第四屆理事、中國音協民族音樂委員會副主任。祖籍河南省安陽縣,1937年5月5日出生於河北省唐山市,幼時即隨家人回到安陽生活。1951年,考入安陽縣一所中學,加入學校樂隊後學會演奏二胡、笛子、月琴及風琴。1954年,在河南省會鄭州市就讀高中,被推選為樂隊隊長。1956年,考入中央音樂學院,先後向林超夏、黃曉飛學習作曲理論,並向吳式鍇、段平泰、楊儒懷、吳祖強、王澍等學習和聲、複調、作品分析、管弦樂配器等;樂器方面,鋼琴師從劉育和,二胡、嗩吶、笙等師從陳振鐸、趙春峰。1959年,在校期間創作二胡曲《豫北敍事曲》。1960年,創作二胡曲《三門峽暢想曲》。1961年,畢業後到中央民族樂團工作,專職創作,主要作品包括板胡獨奏曲《邊寨之夜》、二胡齊奏曲《騎馬挎槍走天下》、嗩吶獨奏曲《二八板》、民族管弦樂曲《十面埋伏》、《難忘的潑水節》、《音樂會序曲》、二胡協奏曲《長城隨想》、二胡與樂隊《秋韻》、竹笛與樂隊《鷹之戀》等。1984年,任中央民族樂團團長。2002年,創作二胡套曲《如來夢》。2003年,推動中國歌劇舞劇院民族樂團與韓國、日本組成亞洲樂團。2007年,創作二胡協奏曲《雪山魂塑》。2013年6月27日,因病在北京逝世。
LIU Wen-jin (May 5, 1937 ~ June 27, 2013)
LIU Wen-jin was a composer and conductor who served as the head of the China National Traditional Orchestra, the director of the China National Opera and Dance Drama Theater, a council member of the Chinese Musicians’ Association (CMA), and the deputy director of the CMA National Music Committee. He was born on May 5, 1937, in Tangshan, Hebei Province, but his ancestral home was in Anyang, Henan Province. He returned to Anyang with his family during his early childhood.
In 1951, Liu entered a high school in Anyang and joined the school band, where he learned to play the erhu, flute, yueqin, and organ. In 1954, he moved to Zhengzhou, the capital city of Henan Province, to attend high school and was elected as the band leader. In 1956, he was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music, where he studied composition theory with LIN Chao-xia and HUANG Xiao-fei. He also studied harmony, counterpoint, composition analysis and orchestration with WU Shi-kai, DUAN Ping-tai, YANG Ru-huai, WU Zu-qiang, WANG Shu. In terms of instruments, he studied piano with LIU Yu-he and erhu, suona and sheng with CHEN Zhen-duo and ZHAO Chun-feng.
During his time at the conservatory, Liu composed the erhu piece “Yubei Narrative” in 1959 and the erhu piece “Sanmenxia Rhapsody” in 1960. After graduating in 1961, he joined the China National Traditional Orchestra as a full-time composer. His major works include the solo piece for banhu “Night in the Border Village”, the ensemble piece for erhu “Riding Horses and Carrying Guns to Travel the World”, the solo piece for suona “Erba Ban”, the orchestral works “Ambush on All Sides”, “Unforgettable Water-Splashing Festival”, and “Concert Overture”, the erhu concerto “Great Wall Fantasia”, the erhu and orchestra piece “Autumn Rhyme”, the dizi and orchestra piece “Eagle’s Love” and more.
In 1984, Liu became the head of the China National Traditional Orchestra. In 2002, he composed the erhu suite “Dream of Buddha”. In 2003, he promoted the establishment of the Asian Orchestra, bringing together musicians from the Traditional Orchestra of the China National Opera and Dance Drama Theater, South Korea, and Japan. In 2007, he composed the erhu concerto “Sculpting the Soul of Snow Mountain”. On June 27, 2013, Liu passed away in Beijing due to illness.
