江蘇省歌舞劇院民族樂隊建立於一九五六年，多年來，樂隊在長期的藝術實踐中造就了一批優秀的民族器樂演奏人才，如著名二胡演奏家朱昌耀，簫、笛演奏家楊霞歧，琵琶演奏家邵榮久等，此外，一些年輕的演奏人才如：青年笛子演奏家王健、青年古箏演奏家郁虹也脫穎而出，樂隊所積累的優秀保留演奏曲目：《春江花月夜》、《行街》、《紫竹調》等，以及所創作的並在全國民族器樂作品徵集評獎中獲得一等獎的作品：《姑蘇情》、《竹歌》等也令國內外同行所瞻目，這些曲目至今仍在國內外音樂舞台上久演不衰，並錄製成唱片和磁帶在國內外出版、發行。
多年的藝術生涯，使江蘇省歌舞劇院民族樂隊逐步形成了自己獨特的演奏風格，樂隊身居江南水鄉，故尤其擅長演奏具有委婉，秀麗的江南音樂，同時也能演奏優美動聽的廣東音樂和粗獷豪放的北方音樂。江蘇省歌舞劇院民族樂隊經常演出於國內的許多城市，並出訪過美國、日本、英國、德國、法國、瑞士、義大利、新加坡、朝鮮、香港等國家和地區，深得國內外聽眾的讚譽。
Music and Dance Troupe of Jiangsu Province It was founded in 1956. During the years, a lot of famous performers were trained such as Zhu Chang-yao(erhu) etc. A lot of popular works were composed such as “Moonlight on the River in Spring”, “Bamboo Flute Tune” etc. Some of their compositions had won the first prize in competitions such as the “Gu Su Qing”, “Bamboo Song”, all of them are very popular in concerts and recordings had been released.
With decades of performance experience, the troupe had formed its own features and characteristics. Because of the geographic reason, it is especially strong at performing Jiangnan music. Of course Cantonese and Northern music are also its strong points. It has been performing allover in China and had visited many countries in the world and won great applause from the audience.
